DAYLE Grubb’s hat-trick led Southern League Premier South leaders Weston-super-Mare to a 4-0 victory against Hartley Wintney at the Optima Stadium.

The former Forest Green Rovers midfielder opened the scoring when he curled home a free-kick on 12 minutes.

James Dodd made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute when his 25-yard strike found the corner of the net, and Weston all but wrapped up the three points just before the break when Grubb converted a penalty after Marlon Jackson had been fouled.

Grubb completed his hat-trick in the 67th minute when he latched on to a pass from Jacob JaggerCane and scored with a low shot.

Victory kept Weston two points ahead of Truro City at the top of the table.

Yate Town backed up their 5-4 win against Gosport Borough with a 1-0 success against Met Police at Imber Court in Surrey, as the Bluebells continue their revival under recently-appointed manager John Rendell.

Kyle Tooze, who was Paulton’s top scorer this season before he joined his former boss Rendell at Yate, struck the decisive goal when he tucked away a 47th-minute penalty. Yate are now up to 16th.

In Division One South, Paulton Rovers gained their first win since the former Shepton Mallet management duo of Craig Loxton and John Durbin succeeded Rendell at the club with a 1-0 triumph at struggling Lymington Town.

Paulton had the better chances in the game and came close in the second half when defender Nick Hewlett struck the post and Will Hailston had an effort ruled out for offside. Just when it looked like Paulton would have to settle for a point, Ed Butcher scored direct from a corner in the fourth minute of stoppage-time to win it for the visitors.

Bristol Manor Farm have slumped to second bottom after a 3-0 defeat to Bashley at The Creek.

A curled strike from Bradley Morris gave Bashley a half-time lead, and Bill Lowes made it 2-0 in the 70th minute.

Jack Lovell scored a close-range third in stoppage-time to complete a miserable day for Lee Lashenko’s side.
