Knives off our streets: Where to find surrender bins

-

People are being encouraged to use knife surrender bins in Bristol as part of a police’s operation to tackle serious violence and knife crime. The forcewide operation was announced last month after a series of fatal stabbings and serious assaults in Bristol.

The aim of the community-based knife surrender bins is to encourage people to safely and anonymously surrender knives to prevent them from causing harm. There are four community bins in Bristol with plans for two more to be installed in the coming months.

Last week, Avon & Somerset Police announced that a combined total of 175 bladed articles were collected from two of the community bins installed in April last year. Knives can also be surrendered at police stations and Bristol courts.

Knives or weapons can be handed in safely and anonymously at one of weapon surrender bins, at the following locations:

» Castle Park, Bristol (near the church, opposite the entrance to The Galleries)

» Staple Hill, Broad Street (opposite Page Park)

» The Park Centre, Daventry Road, Knowle, BS4 1DQ

» Trojan Free Fighters, St

Jude’s, BS2 9DA

The following police stations and Bristol courts also provide this facility:

» Bath Police Station

» Bridgwater Police Centre

» Broadbury Road Police Station

» Keynsham Police Centre

» Kingswood Police Station

» Minehead Police Station

» Patchway Police Centre

» Radstock Police Station

» Shepton Mallet Police Station

» Taunton Police Station

» The Bridewell Police Station

» Wellington Police Station

» Weston-super-Mare Town Hall

» Bristol Crown Court

» Bristol Magistrates’ Court

The first two community bins were installed in Castle Park in the centre of Bristol and the Park Centre in April, 2023.
