Shootout success sends All Stars into the semi-finals

BRISTOL All Stars booked a place in the semi-finals of the Bristol Premier Sunday League’s President’s Cup with a penalty shootout success against Division Two opponents Digital Dash.

All Stars, who sit fourth in the Premier Division, averted a cup shock with a 6-5 win on spot-kicks following a 3-3 draw at the Civil Service Club. Finley Dorrington, Matthew Hoare and Alex Allen scored for the All Stars, with Abdisalan Guled, Jake Hawkins and Mo salihu on target for Dash.

Bristol Academia stayed on course to edge out Wick Sunday for the Senior Division title with a 5-2 win against Signal Generals at the BAWA.

Kieron White struck twice as second bottom BAWA Sports beat Rockleaze Rangers 3-2, while Southmead CS Athletic beat Yate Rangers 5-1 and 2-0 in a double header.

Bradley Stoke Galahads beat leaders Sodbury Albion 2-1 and 3-1 in a crucial double header at the top of Division One, which now makes the victors slight favourites for the title. Sam Smith and Dan Winstone scored for Galahads in the 2-1 win, while Harry Goldspink (2) and Loui Ward were on target in the 3-1 success.

Supreme Cuts and Houselande­r, two other teams near the top, drew 2-2 at Somerdale. Danny Dodimead and Joe Priddice struck for Cuts, with Archie Dark and Liam McCracken the Houselande­r marksmen. Bristol Aztecs beat Breakaways 4-0, while Galenicals and Warwick drew 3-3.

Hanham Athletic are closing in on the Division Two title after two goals from Malachy O’Doherty guided them to a 6-4 win at Little Stoke OB, for whom Joseph Dalby scored twice.

Spartans had a hat-trick from Greg Short in a 4-1 home win against Longreach Athletic.

Sporting United, the Division Four champions, had a hat-trick from Liam Jenkins and two goals apiece from Lee Bebbington and Dan Lock in an 11-0 thrashing of Bristol Blues.

Josh Day’s treble led BEMS to an 8-2 win against bottom side Bristol City Deaf, while second-placed Bristol Argyle had two goals apiece from Dominic Ball and Chris Thorne in a 6-0 win at DRG Frenchay.
