Rugby Lam says thanks for Bradbury’s ‘massive contribution’
PAT Lam has paid tribute to the contribution Magnus Bradbury has made at Bristol Bears over his two years at the club after the Scotland international’s departure to Edinburgh was confirmed.
Back-rower Bradbury, 28, will return to his former side at the end of the season, with Fijian No 8 Viliame ‘Bill’ Mata heading in the opposite direction from the United Rugby Championship side. Before he moved to the West Country, Bradbury spent eight years at Edinburgh, where he made more than 100 appearances and captained the club. Since he arrived at Ashton Gate, the Scotland international No 8 has made 42 appearances and scored tries.
Pat Lam, Bristol’s director of rugby, said: “Magnus has made a massive contribution on and off the field during his two seasons here, which includes winning the prestigious players’ player of the year award last season.
“He has been an excellent team man on and off the field and he can be very proud of his impact at the Bears. Magnus maintains a desire to represent his country and his return to Scotland will certainly help him to achieve his ambitions.
We wish him and Eve all the very best with the move and for the future. I know along with the rest of the squad Maggie is determined to make this season a big success before he leaves.”
“Edinburgh is home for me,” Bradbury told the Edinburgh website. “I love the club, so I’m really excited to return this summer.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Bristol. It’s been a great move for me, and it’s allowed me to grow and develop as a player in a new environment - and we can still achieve great things this season, which I’m fully focused on.
“However, when the opportunity to move back to Edinburgh came about, and with the direction the club is moving in, it felt like unfinished business.”
