The big weekend

This Platinum Jubilee year, events will culminate in a four-day bank holiday weekend (2-5 June), and there’s a lot to look forward to. Celebrations will commence with the Queen’s traditional birthday parade, Trooping the Colour, on 2 June, featuring 1400 parading soldiers, 200 horses, 400 musicians and members of the Royal Family on horseback and in carriages. On the same day, 1500 Jubilee beacons will be lit, while on 5 June, a colourful pageant will parade through the capital. www.royal.uk/platinumjubilee
