Britain

Stamp of approval

-

Ever since postage stamps were introduced in Britain they have been synonymous with the monarchy: the rst ever stamp, the Penny Black in 1840, showed a pro le of the young Queen Victoria. This year, to mark the rst time in history that an English monarch has celebrated a Platinum Jubilee, the Royal Mail have released eight new stamps. Each captures a different part of Her Majesty’s work as Queen – from Trooping the Colour to visits across the Commonwealth – and celebrates her dedication to service over an extraordinary 70 years. The Queen, herself an avid collector of stamps, will surely be adding these to her collection. www.royalmail.com/platinumjubilee
