Bridge Farm Excavations

Excavation and finds processing at this regionally important, finds-rich, defended 1st-4th century RomanoBritish settlement just north of Lewes. Bamburgh Research Project: Bamburgh Castle excavation 2019
16.06 -27.07.19, Bamburgh Castle Booking details are now available for the 2019 field school season. Two programmes are on offer: Excavation and Post-Excavation or PostExcavation only. You can book from one to six weeks; two weeks minimum is recommended for a well rounded experience. Student spaces are limited, so book a place as soon as possible. Saveock Water Archaeology
01.07-16.08.19, Saveock, West Cornwall
This the 19th season on this multi period site which includes a Mesolithic camp, Neolithic ritual area, Bronze Age metal working site and 17th century pagan pits (featured in a National Geographic TV film). This season we plan to open up a new area next to our Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age crystal hearth feature. No experience is necessary as we are a training dig and you will be taught all the basic techniques on site. Fee £200 per person per week with an extra £25 per week to include lunches. Children

The Poulton Project Archaeology Courses
01.07-09.08.19, Poulton, Cheshire A multi-period rural excavation 5 miles south of Chester, which has produced evidence for 10,000 years of human activity. The site was discovered during the search for a lost Cistercian Abbey. The project offers students the opportunity to excavate well-preserved archaeology from a variety of periods. Moel Arthur Excavations 2019
13.07.19 – 9.08.19, Moel Arthur, North Wales
The Clwydian Range Archaeology Group will again be excavating on the plateau below the Iron Age hillfort. As a National Lottery funded project we welcome volunteers of all experience levels for all or part of the dig. Training is provided and can be tailored to the BAJR Archaeological Skills Passport. Attendance is free but membership of CRAG is required (£20 annual membership for new members). Oakclan Forge - Volunteers

The forge is a portable period repoussé workshop that travels around the country and is set up within the craft field. As a volunteer you will be part of a crew of between 4-7. You will be trained in basic techniques by Simon Summers to then go on and assist in workshops during the summer months around England. Applicants must be committed, with a patient, calm, helpful and friendly nature. Helpful to be able to cook a meal (on an open fire). Liss Archaeology: Colemore Project

Set in South Downs National Park, halfway between Alton and Petersfield, little was known about the site until the landowner discovered some pottery dating to the Romano-British. The September/October excavation target will be determined upon the results of the spring excavation, a large trench is planned. Training is available in all aspects of archaeology, all skills levels and volunteers from all walks of life are welcome. From 18 to 80s, all abilities. Taster days available. Membership (£15.00 per annum, due 31.03, students half price) is required for insurance purposes. Dig fees £6 per day (student’s half price), payable in advance.
