The other Friday match was the mixed triples, consisting of Baker, Linda James and Morgan Kavanagh, defending their 2017 title, against Flora Alderton, Denise Rogers and Barry Mills.
The holders went into an early 13-3 lead, and then 24-7 before the challengers got going and won the last five ends, but were unable to prevent a 24-22 loss.
