Beaconsfield draw after opponents Chip away
AFTER leading for the first half, Beaconsfield allowed hosts Chippenham back into the game to end up with a 26-26 draw in the South West 1 East clash.
Beginning strongly Chippenham tried to keep the visitors in their own half, but Beaconsfield were not having any of that and quickly opened the scoring through a penalty from Aled Lewis in Chippenham's 22. Chippenham knew they had to respond and quickly put their winger over on the left for a try 5-3.
Next they used their big forwards and forced the ball over on the right for a second try 12-3. True to character, Beaconsfield responded straight back into the home side's 22 and Ryan at went over for a try to make it 12-10 with Lewis's conversion.
They then quickly regained the lead with another penalty in the 22, Lewis's boot increasing the score to 13-12. This was repeated just before half time as they went ahead 16-12.
In the second half, another attack saw both Ryan Morgan and winger Dru Labri working the ball down the left side with eventually Ryan going over for another converted try to make it 23-12.
Chippenham knew they had to re- spond and straight away scored on the right for 23-19.
Lewis took his last penalty and increased the lead to 26-19, meaning that Chippenham needed a converted try to draw the game.
Chippenham pushed back desperate to get something from the game and after a long period of sustained pressure and phases managed to get over the line to equal the score 26-26.
