A&C give Slough the full Monty
BUCKS Cup holders Amersham & Chiltern defeated Slough 82-7 in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
Chiltern dominated the game from the start, ran the ball whenever possible and scored 12 tries in total, with Monty Weatherall converting 11 plus a try which give him a 27-point haul.
In blustery conditions, it was no surprise that running was the preferred option for both sides, but the pace and accuracy of their passing gave Chiltern the opportunity to outflank the Slough defence.
A stunning miss-pass from Weatherall inside his own 22 saw Jake Cutter find winger Scott Kilbey, whose 70 metre run produced the first and possibly best try of the game.
Regular breaks by forwards and backs saw Chiltern clock up another six tries in the first half while Slough, with a period of sustained forward play, scored a try of their own to make the score 49-7 at half-time.
The pattern of the second half was very similar with Chiltern adding a further five tries to make the final score 82-7. Kilbey, Chris Naisby and debutant Sam Risbridger all scored two tries each with the others spread throughout the team.
Saturday will see Chiltern return to league action when they entertain Diss from Norfolk (3pm kick off ).
