‘Mock’ crane rescue valuable for fire crew
RETIREMENT housebuilder McCarthy and Stone invited a fire crew to perform a mock crane rescue at its Chiltern Place development, currently under construction in The Broadway in Amersham.
Site manager Tony Carr and Amersham Fire Crew, supported by Beaconsfield Fire Station, planned the exercise to provide firefighters with a realistic training scenario.
The crane is there to enable construction of the development, which will eventually comprise a collection of Retirement Living Plus apartments for the over 70s.
Crew commander Steven King, based at Amersham Fire Station, said: “In the event that a rescue situation arises it is important that we can act quickly to secure the safety of workers on site.
“Mock rescue activities such as this are incredibly valuable, providing our crews with an opportunity to practice in a real-life setting, yet with the support of being in a safe and controlled environment.
“We would like to thank McCarthy and Stone for facilitating the session, which proved a real success.”
