NICK Matthew visited Beaconsfield Squash Club as part of his 2018 UK Club Tour.
The day was organised by the club as part of their fundraising drive to raise money to replace the playing floors, add heating on the courts and update the club facilities as a whole.
Matthew spent the day at the club running junior and adult coaching clinics and playing exhibition matches against the club’s players.
The 38-year-old is the most successful English player and one of the greatest world players of all time, having lifted the World Championship trophy three times and has taken three gold medals at the Commonwealth Games.
He has spent many months at the top of the world rankings, winning 35 world tour titles, three British Open titles and nine national titles.
Club chairman Mike Chapples was full of praise for the day, adding: “I can’t put into words but there was such a vibe and buzz around the club with Nick’s visit.
The fundraiser was so important for us and that was the whole pur- pose today and to raise the profile of the squash club.”
Club manager Andy Longman said: “We had a fantastic day and have raised over £2,500 towards our new floors and heating.
“Nick was brilliant and gave so much good advice and coaching tips to all the junior and adult players who had coaching during the day.”
