THERE were 27 Chiltern Har­ri­ers com­pet­ing at the South­ern Cross Coun­try Championships, rac­ing in the U13s, U15s and U17s age groups at Ox­ford Horspath on Satur­day.

The U13s girls were first to toe the line and the Bucks team fin­ished fourth, the best county po­si­tion of the day.

Frankie Bax­ter ran a well-paced race to lead the team home in an ex­cel­lent fourth place.

Early leader Lesedi Nkoane also ran well for sev­enth. Mad­die Hughes was the third Bucks scorer in 22nd, Han­nah Ashby was the fifth Bucks fin­isher in 38th, Marea Lo­gan sixth in 45th and El­lie Shield eighth in 102nd.

There was also strong Chiltern rep­re­sen­ta­tion in the U13s boys race, with six in the Bucks team and two in the Herts team.

Thomas Red­mond con­tin­ued to chal­lenge at the high­est level and was sixth, lead­ing home the Bucks team that was 10th.

Oak­ley Den­son ran well to be the third Bucks scorer in 61st, as did Max Bax­ter, fourth scorer in 64th.

Rowan Gawne was the fifth Bucks fin­isher in 78th, Alden Col­lier was sev­enth Bucks fin­isher in 102nd and Al­fie Clif­ford eighth Bucks fin­isher in 107th.

Euan Pin­der was the sixth Herts fin­isher in 77th and Leon Do­ran eighth Herts fin­isher in 109th.

Ab­bie Hen­der­son had an­other very good run in the U15 girls race for sixth, lead­ing home the Bucks team that was sev­enth.

All four Bucks scor­ers were Chiltern ath­letes, with Holly Hen­der­son 13th, Ali­cia Bushell 29th and Alice Brown 59th.

There were five Chiltern boys in the Bucks U15s team.

Louis Peter­son was the sec­ond Bucks boy home in 61st, with Finn O’Brien third in 64th and Ben Jack­son fourth home in 73rd.

Matt Al­dred was fifth in 89th and Cor­mac Nis­bet sev­enth in 96th. The Bucks team fin­ished 12th.

So­raya Lock­wood was the sixth Bucks fin­isher in the U17s women’s race in 84th.

The U17s men’s race saw three Chiltern ath­letes take part, with An­gus Wil­liams hav­ing a good run to lead home the Bucks team in 13th.

Tommy Davies was the fourth Bucks scorer in 35th and Alex John­son, after tweak­ing an an­kle, was the sev­enth Bucks fin­isher in 58th.
