Team Williams comes out on top in festive race
CHILTERN Harriers had their annual festive relay race based at Hervines Park, in Amersham, on Sunday.
As usual teams were composed of five athletes with each team captain running two legs of the 1,450m circuit around Devonshire Avenue, Chesham Road and Hervines Road.
There were 11 teams this year, with Orla Williams’ blue team coming home in front in a time of 31.13. Harry Cox’s red team and Richard Slade’s black team finished in an exciting dead heat in 31.19 to earn joint second place.
Williams’ team was completed by Marea Logan (5.23), Ella Watson (5.45), Clive Docwra (5.47), and Frankie Baxter (4.46). Notable runs came from U17 Alex Johnson, captain of the Hi Viz team, coming close to the course record in a time of 4.00.
Johnson ran 4.10 on his second leg, so was just pipped for best combined time by the pink team captain U17 Alex Aldred who ran a combined time of 8.09 (4.03 and 4.06).
Fastest U15 boy was green team captain Woody Jackson who ran 4.36. The fastest female was Orla Williams (U15), running 4.42.
Fastest U13 overall was Frankie Baxter who ran 4.46, and fastest U13 boy was Oakley Denson in 4.53.
The best U11 times came from Gabriel Strutton-Smith (5.18) and Olivia Botha (5.35) and the quickest time by a parent cam from Brian Gregory in 5.18.
