Team Wil­liams comes out on top in fes­tive race

CHILTERN Har­ri­ers had their an­nual fes­tive re­lay race based at Hervines Park, in Amersham, on Sun­day.

As usual teams were com­posed of five ath­letes with each team cap­tain run­ning two legs of the 1,450m cir­cuit around Devon­shire Av­enue, Che­sham Road and Hervines Road.

There were 11 teams this year, with Orla Wil­liams’ blue team com­ing home in front in a time of 31.13. Harry Cox’s red team and Richard Slade’s black team fin­ished in an ex­cit­ing dead heat in 31.19 to earn joint sec­ond place.

Wil­liams’ team was com­pleted by Marea Lo­gan (5.23), Ella Wat­son (5.45), Clive Docwra (5.47), and Frankie Baxter (4.46). No­table runs came from U17 Alex John­son, cap­tain of the Hi Viz team, com­ing close to the course record in a time of 4.00.

John­son ran 4.10 on his sec­ond leg, so was just pipped for best com­bined time by the pink team cap­tain U17 Alex Al­dred who ran a com­bined time of 8.09 (4.03 and 4.06).

Fastest U15 boy was green team cap­tain Woody Jack­son who ran 4.36. The fastest fe­male was Orla Wil­liams (U15), run­ning 4.42.

Fastest U13 over­all was Frankie Baxter who ran 4.46, and fastest U13 boy was Oak­ley Den­son in 4.53.

The best U11 times came from Gabriel Strut­ton-Smith (5.18) and Olivia Botha (5.35) and the quick­est time by a par­ent cam from Brian Gre­gory in 5.18.
