An Ecosteel house is built on a complete, heavy-duty steel frame. It is welded – extremely accurately – to a series of screwpiles; these are Gps-positioned, and each can support over 20 tons. The building’s floor, walls, ceilings, internal walls and roof are constructed using tailored SIP panels, helping achieve a U-value of 0.16. And here’s the most interesting part of our concept: we don’t finish the building. You do.
The “Barebones” Concept
Ecosteel is owned, and was entirely conceived, by Framework Design and Construction Ltd. WE ARE NOT Developers – we’re steel designers, fabricators and erectors, serving the local construction industry with increasing success. We worked on the Ecosteel system for nearly 12 months and, as it evolved, it occurred to us that we should let the experts complete the “insides” of the building.
So – that’s what you get. A finished, watertight, hugely strong, highly ecient shell complete with windows and good quality doors. A TATA “Colourcoat Urban” roofing system (or your alternative choice) completes the shell, ready for the Customer to install electrics, plumbing and sewage, and finally the kitchen and bathroom. NOTE: the SIP roof can additionally support a conventional battened, tiled roof system. How long does it take us to construct an Ecosteel “Barebones” house? Assuming no snags/regs problems?
1 Piling:
Survey/sample analysis* 2-3 working days Piling installation 3-5 working days
2 Steel & SIPS:
Erection/installing: 5-7 working days
3 External: Renderboard, and a Rendered finish.
Ecosteel can be additionally adapted to incorporate traditional brick and modern weatherboard finishes
* Soil Analysis is done by a specialist laboratory; it can take up to two weeks
* If you already have your completed groundworks, the steel frame can be bolted directly to it.
