Every riser of the bespoke staircase features its own drawer, which acts as the family’s filing system. One side of the flight features a bookcase, and above that, tension wires have been installed instead of a traditional balustrade. e flight leads up to the landing, where a glass floor has been fitted. “I’ve got high level clerestory windows above this zone, which drop light down through the glazed surface and into the back of the kitchen”, says Ian. “It looks fantastic and it’s brilliant for the children. I was trying to introduce some fun into the house, and the kids can lie on it and pull faces at people below. It’s great”.
