At first glance, the living room wall finish could be mistaken for exposed pennant stone or slate, but it’s actually tiles with a natural stone finish. e rugged relief textured surface has deep joints and variegated colour, giving the appearance of real thin-coursed stone. Kevin wanted to create a focal point to draw the eye to the living area when people entered the room. “I always envisaged the end wall as something a bit different”, he says. “I’d seen samples of these tiles and liked the effect. I thought they would make a good feature here, so I practised tiling the ensuite first to get it looking right”.
