Distinctive exterior...

In terms of the architecture, the prowed front elevation of the house is one of Bill and Sukie’s favourite features. “It was Chris’s idea”, says Sukie. “It took the design to another level, emphasising the dramatic open space of the living area and the sweeping views from the mezzanine”. As well as giving the house a distinctive aesthetic, this glazed feature has a practical purpose, too. “e large overhang means in the winter when the sun is low you get maximum solar gain. In the summer, the overhang stops the building from getting too hot”, says Bill. “Externally the cottage looks like a small, rustic, wooden house. However, when you go inside, the feeling of space is immense. is is largely due to that prowed front”.
