CLOSER LOOK: OUTBUILDINGS
If you’ve explored every nook and cranny in the house and can’t create any extra space for storage, consider a purpose-made outbuilding in which to house possessions. Designs for this type of space can range from a simple garden shed to fully insulated annexes that could even provide ancillary accommodation. Permitted development allowances enable you to create quite large structures without the need to apply for planning permission. One project we designed at Lapd Architects was a bespoke library. Not only could the client effectively store his collection of books, but the texts were well presented and could be read in an enjoyable environment.
