PROJECT MILESTONES

The first few weeks were all about the groundworks and foundations. By the end of November 2018, the concrete raft foundation was poured by ICF Contractors, ready for the basement walls to commence By January 2019 we had a full basement, complete with a twopart waterproofing system. This image shows the installation of the cavity drainage membrane, which allows any water that penetrates into the building to be directed away via drainage channels and a sump pump Come February, Hadfield Concrete Structures were on site pouring the ground floor walls. This process takes just a day: what sucks up most time is elements such as getting the structural openings right (essential as we’ve already ordered our windows) and bracing and aligning the ICF blocks

By mid-march our first floor external walls were braced and poured, with an external scaffold in place for health and safety. The first floor structure – in our case consisting of steel beams and posijoists – had to be installed before the walls were built up
