The death of the British doorbell
Over half of Britons no longer use a doorbell, preferring to walk in when visiting a friend or relative, according to research by Duette. While 82% of houses have a ringer, 53% of people don’t bother to use this, or to even knock. When a quick text to announce one’s arrival is more common, questions around the need for doorbells in new build homes arise. Nine in 10 would consider a smart alternative; with new tech advancements, this seems like a more viable option for many self builders.
