Distinctive water feature...
Many gardens have ponds, but Alex has something that makes more of a splash: a 3,500-gallon koi pond, complete with a covered roof. “I used to keep koi in the Seychelles and I’m passionate about them”, he says. “When we bought the bungalow it had only a small pond, which would never have been able to accommodate the fish I have now. So I decided to make something a bit more special”.
With the help of the couple’s gardener, Alex had a bespoke housed pond created to his own spec, adding a viewing window for wow factor. It is warmed via an air source heat pump. However, it was losing heat at great cost, which is how the cover came about. It was built by a local conservatory company. “is helped to retain the warmth a lot”, says Alex. “I have also upgraded the filter system and the setup is working really well”.
