Where can I find an independent project manager?

I want to start a self build project in West Berkshire but need to find a project manager. Is there a register of independent professionals that could help with my scheme, preferably within a reasonable distance of site? As of yet, there doesn’t seem to be a website or other resource available for project managers who specialise in one-off homes. Most independent professionals come from a background of having been successful main contractors (or from having finished their own self build projects), hence they tend to be local solo enterprises. A good place to start might be to ask friends and neighbours if they’ve used an individual they would recommend; or to look out for self build sites in your area and ask there. You could also do a web search for professionals in your area. As it happens, I do know of one company not too far away from you. CLPM is based in south-west Hertfordshire and I believe one of its PMS operates out of Berkshire. ey help out at the Build It Live shows, presenting seminars on the topic of project managing construction schemes, so they should know their stuff!
