Gloucestershire group to create affordable properties
A Community Land Trust (CLT) made up of residents in Eastington, near Stroud, has just begun work on a local housing development. The group has been fending off planning applications from largescale developers who wanted to create mass-housing in the area and lobbying the council for locally-led schemes. The CLT has successfully obtained government funding to buy plots of land throughout the village. The plan is to build 23 value-for-money affordable homes, prioritising local people who might otherwise consider moving away. The scheme aims to specifically target the village’s ‘hidden families’, consisting of multiple generations all living under the same roof. The properties will include a mix of bungalows and one- and two-bedroom homes.
