Tucked away bathroom...

-

Steven and Kayleigh wanted to retain their three good-sized double bedrooms, so moving the bathroom upstairs wasn’t an option. Equally, it couldn’t remain where it was, right at the back of the house off the old kitchen. eir solution was to tuck it at the heart of the ground floor, between the living room at the front and the new kitchen-diner at the rear. According to Steven, the bathroom was the biggest compromise the couple had to make to realise the other components of the renovation. However, it’s worked well thanks to the pair’s design expertise. e bath sits under the stairs, where head height is less of an issue. A panel of internal glazing above the door borrows natural light from the hallway beyond. Ceiling spotlights are complemented by more decorative lighting, like the recessed LED strips used to highlight timber-lined storage areas. According to Building Regs, an external window is not mandatory in a bathroom – external extraction is a requirement, however.
