As an alternative to solid timber boards, Millboard cladding provides a perfect long-lasting solution to the challenge of a coastal climate. It also requires little maintenance, which was a priority for Nick. “It’s a composite, resin material”, says Adam Laskey, Marraum’s director. “At the time, it was only available as decking and didn’t have the required fire retardancy rate to use on the exterior walls. So, we implemented a layer of non-combustible detailing to bring it up to standard and get it signed off by Building Regs”. Millboard was also chosen as it would hold a consistent colour as the years progressed and requires minimal upkeep.
