In the living and dining rooms, Howard decided to wallpaper the ceilings to draw the eye upwards and accentuate the period features. “I love the intricate ceiling rose in the living room, as well as the coving that’s in both spaces”, he says. “Since the features were damaged, I spent many hours restoring them with bits of plaster. Doing it myself helped to keep costs down”. Inspired by the spectacular ceilings in Brighton’s Royal Pavilion, Howard has injected a feeling of opulence into the reception areas by selecting a covering with a striking geometric pattern, sourced from his local branch of Brewers. “I was impressed with the number of wallpaper sample books they had in stock”, he says. “ere was certainly plenty of choice for my project. In the end, I opted for a Layla Faye design and have had lots of positive feedback”.
