METAL

-

Another durable, versatile and lowmaintenance option. Steel, zinc, aluminium and copper are the main options for metal finishes – and products are available to suit both contemporary schemes and more heritage-inspired designs, such as barn-style homes.

You can expect a useful lifespan of at least 35 years with steel, and upwards of 50 years with some other metals. Products such as copper and zinc will form their own self-protecting patina as they age, adding charm and longevity.

The main considerations are sustainability (metal is recyclable, but needs to be mined) and price. Expect to pay £80-£150+ per m2 installed, depending on the metal, profile and jointing/fixing method.
