Wood cladding is hugely popular among self builders and renovators, and with good reason. It’s eco-friendly, cost-effective, easy to install and available in a huge range of species and finishes to add character and natural texture to a build. You can select anything from traditional weatherboarding to modern rainscreen claddings in horizontal or vertical arrangements, too.
Upkeep can be more involved than with other materials if you choose a painted or stained finish; but many homeowners now opt for durable, rotresistant products such as larch and oak, which can be left unfinished.
Installed prices can start from as little as £50 per m2, but can rise to upwards of £100 per m2 depending on species and installation details.
