CLOSER LOOK SECURITY

-

Making sure your front door is as impenetrable as possible is key to keeping your home safe. “Consider not only the strength of the door, but also the locking system,” says Elizabeth Assaf, co-founder of Urban Front. “A minimum of a three-point locking system is sufficient, but I recommend a five-point system as standard. It should at least meet Secured By Design standards.” This is a police initiative that aims to improve security in our homes and community. Doors, doorsets and your windows must pass rigorous testing to achieve SBD certification. Part Q of Building Regs details the minimum standard for door security, so go over this with your supplier and don’t be afraid to ask for proof of compliance with Part Q and the related PAS 24 British Standard for security.
