Bigger homes under permitted development

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) has welcomed an announcement from the housing minister to ensure better space standards for dwellings created under permitted development (PD) rights. By delivering homes without planning permission, the sector has been able to create more diverse housing, but sometimes at the cost of quality. “The introduction of new space standards will stop the creation of homes unfit for human habitation,” says Brian Berry, chief executive of the FMB.
