WITH LOTS OF WINDOWS, think about curtains and shading when your choose what products are best for your home. We ended up with windows just 100mm longer than any standard curtain, so had to make every last one and buy bespoke blinds.

GETTING SERVICES CONNECTED turned out to be a slow and expensive part of the build for us. It’s worth starting communication with water, electrics and phone companies early.

CAREFULLY PLAN LIGHTING circuits and switch layouts. We added multiple circuits for more control in our open-plan home.
