Traditional home by New Space Architecture
This grade II listed farmhouse has been given a modern update with a stone and glass extension designed by New Space Architecture. The owners tendered out to three designers to come up with a sympathetic addition that would respect the original house and rural surroundings, as well as bringing a new lease of life to the property. New Space Architecture submitted a carefully considered design, which sailed through planning, as well as obtaining listed building consent to alter the period property.
The result is a spacious open-plan kitchen-living-dining room, perfect for modern family life, which also embodies rural country design. The use of local stone to match the original construction method has created a sympathetic addition. A glazed gable adds wow-factor, as well as helping to bring tonnes of natural light into the new space. Sliding doors on three sides lead out onto the vast expanse of land to the rear of the property.
Inside, the decor oozes cosy countryside vibes, with a wood-effect floor, traditional-style Shaker kitchen and rustic furniture. The vaulted ceiling enhances the sense of space and is adorned with attractive exposed oak trusses. Natural stonework helps to link the inside and out, offering a connection to the rural setting.
