Inmate No 2 is found dead
POLICE are investigating the second death at HMP Dovegate in just seven months.
The latest death was reported at the jail, near Marchington, on Monday morning. It follows the case of 41-year-old inmate Kevin Lovatt, of Meir, whose death at the prison in December is still being investigated.
Police are yet to formally identify the latest prisoner to have died. A prison spokesman said it was not thought his death was suspicious.
Private firm Serco operates the category B jail, which houses more than 1,000 male prisoners.
An inquest will be opened and adjourned by South Staffordshire coroner Andrew Haigh at a later date.
