Man, 95, ‘hit with hammer’

A MAN aged 95 was allegedly struck with a hammer and grabbed by the throat by an intruder.

Derbyshire Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident, which occurred in Walton.

Officers said it happened at around 10.45am on Tuesday, June 12, but details have only just been released.

DS Ritchie Parkins said: “This incident is made doubly shocking by the fact that the victim is 95 years old.

“It is fortunate that he wasn’t seriously injured.”

The victim’s wallet and keys were stolen during the incident. Police want anyone with information to call them on the non-emergency 101 number.
