Lloyd had licence to thrill in spell with the Brewers

-

LLOYD Dyer’s decision to turn down a new contract with Burton Albion brought to an end a short but exciting time with the club.

In two years in the Championship with the Brewers, the 35-year-old scored 15 goals and was the spark for many of the fans’ happier memories of the club’s often tough times battling against bigger and stronger rivals.

From the moment he scored on his debut away to Nottingham Forest, Dyer showed plenty of attacking intent in a Burton shirt.

Manager Nigel Clough is looking to his young players to fill Dyer’s boots as the club prepares for a new campaign in League One.

But first, Mail reporter Joshua Murray reflects on the winger’s time at the Pirelli Stadium.
