Priestley, Dawkins on fire for leaders Rolleston

-

ROLLESTON 2nds maintained their 27-point lead at the top of Viceroy Restaurant Division Four South with a crushing eight-wicket win over Dunstall 2nds at The Willows.

It was all over in around two hours, with the visitors crashing to 53 all out in a little under 20 overs. Joe Priestley (6-22) and Niall Dawkins (4-28) did the damage for Rolleston, who needed only 14.1 overs after the interval to wrap up an easy win.

Barton lifted themselves up from last weekend’s disappointing defeat to Dunstall 2nds to record a hardfought five-wicket win over Melbourne Town.

Andy Chambers (4-68) made early progress for Barton. Alex Slater (27) and Mark Rossi (20) consolidated but Chambers and Oliver Phillips (3-50) put Barton in command.

Melbourne recovered to post

215 thanks to Muhammad Nadeem (47) and Adam Swain (65 not out) but it was a measured response from Barton through Tris Tanner (25), Anthony Sprowson (47) and Dominic Phillips (24).

Waseem Sajid (3-38) intervened and Barton were five down with plenty still to do but Cameron Bliss (37 not out) and Ben Jackson (29 not out) sealed victory with almost five overs to spare.

Trentside moved up into fifth place following a seven-wicket win over Elvaston 2nds, with Lewis Brown (2-27) and Habib Rahman (3-43) creating early problems and Sam Shelton (4-18) leading a collapse from 88-4 to 117 all out.

Stephen Moran (26) and Brown (34) set the tone as they added a solid 54 for the second Trentside wicket, then Macauley Metcalfe (38 not out) guided his side home in the 28th over.

Winshill continued their good run of form with a convincing 153-run win over Abbots Bromley.

Matt Tracey (4-72) had Winshill in trouble on 6-2 but Scott Martin (55) and Matt Waring (45) responded with a third wicket partnership of 98 before a run-a-ball half-century from skipper Matt Clarke (50 not out) set up a declaration after 43 overs at 275-6.

In-form Will Maidstone (37) and Alastair Plowman (23) added 53 for Bromley’s opening wicket but that was as good as it got. Neil Winfield (4-49) and Kamal Subhani (4-11) took over and Bromley wilted to 122 all out in the 30th over. Hilton found the challenge of second-placed Etwall beyond them as they slipped to a 10th defeat of the season.

They made only a modest 183-4 despite good knocks from Alan Barber (59) and Martyn Gregson (37) and Etwall lost five wickets in reply, including that of Matt Wilton (40), but strolled home by five wickets in the 42nd over with Dale Clemson (36 not out) in the middle to see his side through.
