Walton are in command to double up victories

-

WALTON made it two wins from two in Talbot Turf Division Two with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Nutbrook.

Walton were in control from the start with Dan Russell (3-29) and Ed Chapman (4-38) having early success and Nutbrook had no answer. The lower-order attempted to arrest the slide but Dave Preston (1-3) and Nick Campion (2-18) left them 92 all out in 31 overs.

Nick Crane took 3-40 as Walton replied but Chapman (23 not out) and James Blackwell (34 not out) delivered victory in the 16th over.

Tutbury suffered their sixth defeat, a four-wicket setback against promotion-chasing Sandiacre Town 2nds.

Ian Wright (6-35) was the chief cause of Tutbury’s problems as they stuttered to 150 all out in 42 overs. Karl Chadfield (52) offered the only real resistance.

Ben Egginton (4-50) tried to strike back and visitors slipped to 85-5 but Sandiacre stood firm and Daniel Tucker (38 not out) steered his side home in the 27th over.

In Browns Builders Merchants Division Three, Ticknall 2nds crashed back to earth, stumbling to a 200-run defeat to high-flying Matlock.

Matlock won the toss and fired an impressive 268-5, the Ticknall attack ineffective as Andrew Paulett (108 not out) and Danny Swain (60) dominated.

Ticknall lasted only 30.1 overs in reply, as only Ethan Berlusconi (39) stood firm as they were bowled out for 68, Drew Mullaney taking 3-12.
