Stats on violence
WEST Midlands Ambulance Service reported 25 physical attacks on staff in 2013/14, with 31 verbal cases. In 2014/15, the figures were 29 physical and 64 verbal.
Since April this year, staff at East Midlands Ambulance Service have reported 476 assaults, including five incidents involving spitting, five involving knives, two involving firearms and three involving racial abuse. Of these figures, there were 191 assaults in Derbyshire, with 22 of these resulting in injury and 77 involving alcohol.
