Fresh hope for Belmont

-

BELMONT B boosted their hopes of staying in the David Wain Insurance Premier Division with their second win of the season.

Graham Bailey has hit form and swept past Steve Hathaway, making a 37 break on the way.

And Mark Satchwell is also finding his feet as he won two frames against Steve Mabbutt to give Belmont a 4-0 lead.

Shaun Gebbie played Tutbury youngster Dan Mabbutt, who started well with a 27 break.

But Gebbie then used his experience to tighten the game up and clear the colours to give Belmont a 5-0 lead.

Dan won the second frame and then Chris Mabbutt won two frames against Josh Gebbie as Tutbury finished on a high.

But the win belonged to Belmont, 5-3.

There was also a 5-3 win for Swad Cons A against Burton Cons B.

Andy Grainger included breaks of 46 and 30 in his win against Darren Coady, while Ant Rushton beat Troy Randle despite the home player knocking in a 40. Rushton managed a 37.

John Shilton was not at his best but had too much for a battling Lee Wood, while Simon Smith and Simon Orpwood shared two scrappy frames.

Alrewas A maintained their tremendous start to the season with a 6-2 away win against Spot On.

Karl Hancox led the way with a 34 in his win over Andy Speirs, while Tom Smith also picked up two points against Tom Elliott.

Mark Stirling drew with Lee Louch and it was the same result between Ade Harper and John Richardson.
