Shoppers urged to check their rights

-

SHOPPERS are being urged to ensure they know their rights when splashing the cash this Christmas.

Staffordshire County Council is now reminding residents to familiarise themselves with the Consumer Rights Act, which allows a full refund on faulty goods within 30 days of purchase.

Shoppers can also challenge unfair terms and conditions or any hidden in small print, as well as the ability to demand poor services are redone.

The law also covers faulty digital goods. Gill Heath, communities leader on the council, said: “Consumer laws apply to both in-store and online shopping so it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with them.”

“We want people to be able to shop with confidence online, stay safe and enjoy the festive preparations.”
