Woman seen walk­ing in mid­dle of A38

The in­ci­dent caused traf­fic de­lays af­ter mo­torists were tem­po­rar­ily held up in both direc­tions be­tween the Branston In­ter­change and Clay Mills, in Stret­ton, at around 2.30pm.

A Stafford­shire Po­lice spokesman said: “We were alerted to a woman walk­ing down the cen­tral reser­va­tion of the A38 be­tween the two ex­its for Bur­ton.

“It is be­lieved her car had bro­ken down and she was walk­ing to a safe lo­ca­tion. Of­fi­cers re­sponded, but a search for her proved neg­a­tive. Of­fi­cers will con­tinue to mon­i­tor the area.”

Both West Mid­lands Am­bu­lance Ser­vice and High­ways Eng­land said they had not been in­volved in deal­ing with the in­ci­dent.
