A SUSPECTED cannabis factory has been discovered in a Winshill house, police have revealed.

Several police vans, including a forensics team, were spotted in Alexandra Road, Winshill, yesterday morning.

Many residents in the street seemed puzzled about the incident and one neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: “The police have been here for quite a few hours now, but nobody seems to know what is going on.”

Another resident, who also wanted to remain anonymous, told the Burton Mail they had heard it was a suspected cannabis factory, which has now been confirmed by police.

Staffordshire Police have said plants, thought to be cannabis, were found growing inside the property, which has now been made safe by officers.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said yesterday: “Officers from Staffordshire Police were called to a report of a disorder at a house on Alexandra Road, Burton, just after 4am today.

“On arrival, officers found a cannabis grow.

“An investigation is under way and the property is currently being made safe.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 52 of December 10. Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
