Timothy appointed as new boss of hospitals charity
UNIVERSITY Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust has appointed a new director for the trust’s charity in the wake of the long-awaited merger.
After almost a decade of fundraising for Leicester’s Hospitals, Timothy Diggle has taken up the position, a new role agreed as one of the first steps in merging the Derby and Burton Hospital Charities.
Tim said: “I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity. The Derby Hospitals Charity has raised millions of pounds over the years providing equipment and facilities.”
He joins the team with 25 years’ experience in the charity sector, nine and a half of which have been supporting Leicester Hospitals Charity in raising more than £21 million.
Tim says he will look back fondly on his time working to improve Leicester’s Hospitals, but as a resident of Matlock he is excited to have the opportunity to serve the community in which he and his family live.
“Over the past nine and a half years I have been fortunate to work with a team of passionate, committed and tenacious fundraisers, doctors, nurses, managers and most importantly, donors,” said Tim.
“To be able to shape and guide the appeals we have undertaken has been hugely rewarding – we know we have made a difference. Fund-raising is a team sport, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring my experience to bear at Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity, where I know there is an equally passionate and committed group of people who want to make a difference to patients, visitors and staff in their hospitals.”
