Cases heard recently before Southern Derbyshire magistrates
Scott Jones, 39, of Greenwich Avenue, Church Gresley. Found guilty of failing to comply with the condition of a shotgun certificate, in Swadlincote on March 11, namely that the shotgun should be stored securely. Fined £184 and ordered to pay £500 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
Paul Dalby, 36, of Hilton Road, Egginton.
Admitted assaulting a woman in Swadlincote on May 8. Admitted damaging a car windscreen on the same day. Made the subject of a 12-month community order with 180 hours unpaid work. Ordered to pay £200 compensation, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
Mark Harrington, 37, of The Fairway, Newhall.
Admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards members of the public, in The Fairway, on November 5. Admitted two charges of possession of a screwdriver and two planks of wood in a public place on the same day. Jailed for six months because magistrates heard it was carried out in drink, in a public place in front of children and involved threats, aggravated by his similar previous convictions and suspended sentences have not stopped his offending. Ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Carl Haynes, 35, of Arliston Drive, Woodville.
Found guilty of using a Vauxhall in Granville Street, Woodville, on January 9, without insurance. Fined £450 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £45 victim surcharge. Licence endorsed with six points.
