BEST OF THE REST
HOLBY CITY BBC1, 8pm
LOVE is in the air at Holby and there’s a surprising cameo to watch out for – amid all the usual heartache, former Strictly favourite and ex member of 80s band The Communards, Rev Richard Coles, is on hand to help out. He’s been roped in to officiate at a wedding, but who’s going to tie the knot?
Show bosses have teased three possible couples to get hitched in this special episode.
Could it be Serena (Catherine Russell) and Bernie (Jemma Redgrave), or Jason (Jules Robertson) and Greta (Zoe Croft) or even Dom (David Ames) and Lofty (Lee Mead)?
All the couples could just as easily split up, based on past experience.
The Rev says: “I’m thrilled to be invited to exercise my ministry of healing at Holby City – my healthcare provider of choice for 20 years – and officiate at an occasion so joyous even Professor Gaskell would crack a smile.”
Let’s hope he’s right.
CELEBRITY LEGO MASTERS AT CHRISTMAS Channel 4, 8pm
IF you want to see children roll their eyes at idiot adult celebrities, then this is the show for you.
In the spirit of Christmas, six junior builders from the Lego Masters series have been paired up with celebrity helpers who share their passion for the little plastic bricks. But they’re certainly not as talented.
“Right now I’m keeping my expectations low,” sighs young Jack, talking about his building partner, comedian Rob Beckett. “I didn’t feel confident,” said junior builder Guy on working with Joe Swash.
Elsewhere, comedian Joel Dommett, TV personality Spencer Matthews, Tattoo Fixer Alice Perrin, and Star Wars actor Warwick Davis are experiencing similar problems.
The pairs compete in some festive challenges under the watchful eye of judges Matthew Ashton and Fran Scott, while host Melvin Odoom dances around like a loon in various costumes.
But the toughest task will be building a Christmas window display in just three hours.
It’s make or break.
