Swimmers’ best yet in the autumn league

BURTON Amateur Swimming Club’s third appearance in the Leicester Autumn League grand final brought them their best finish yet, as they came fourth of eight teams at Corby – their previous best result had been sixth.

Meanwhile, the B team hosted the third tier final at the Meadowside and came third of six teams, a commendabl­e result in their first competitiv­e season.

At Corby, there were individual wins for Bella Smith in the age 10 25m breaststro­ke, junior girls’ captain Ella Cooper in the age 12 50m freestyle and Jaina Muogbo in the age 10 25m freestyle.

Muogbo, Smith, Lana Clamp and Bella Richards also won twice in the age 10 relays, in both medley and freestyle, to earn the club’s “star swimmers” accolade for the meet.

Dylan Mitchell’s was named “star race” after his PB to come second in the age 10 25m backstroke.

There were also four second places and five third places for Burton swimmers, who racked up 52 personal best times between them.

The B team had 42 PBs, with Charlotte Breeze providing the star swim, a PB in the 100m freestyle.

Brown and Stevens shared the star swimmer accolade, setting a great example to the younger members.

A measure of the club’s progress is that the B team’s result matched the one achieved by the A team in 2013.
