Life’s a beach, and then you get naked

-

WHEN you clock all the wobbly bits on display here, you might assume this was another beach-side dating show – far from it.

There’s actually quite a serious message as the experiment aims to help people with severely low body confidence.

The idea is that after four days surrounded by normal bodies – not the airbrushed perfect ones we see in magazines or movies

– then the willing victims will feel better about themselves.

Not only that, they’ll gain the confidence to strip off, joining the eight villa hosts in the nude.

Set in a luxury Greek villa, because, well why not, this radical plan has been devised by social psychologist Dr Keon West and body image expert Natasha Devon MBE.

Natasha says: “Britain has some of the lowest body image scores in the world. Seventy five per cent of women are unhappy with the way they look. Forty five per cent of men hate what they see in the mirror.

“And worryingly, one in four kids are now dissatisfied with their bodies.”

Battling what she calls a “global health issue”, the hosts are all body confident people, despite their imperfections.

But how will the guests cope when faced with eight naked people?

In this first episode, Elysia, 27, must come to terms with her stretch marks, Darrell, 26, hates his larger size, and Kaye, 27, says she hates everything about her body.

There are giggles here, of course, especially during a sports day challenge including a wheelbarrow and three-legged race. But there are tears too as the guests face their demons.
