Sleep-out to change this year due to pan­demic, says YMCA

BUR­TON YMCA’S spon­sored sleep-out will not be go­ing ahead in its usual fash­ion, it has been re­vealed.

For the past 11 years vol­un­teers have spent one night in Novem­ber sleep­ing in card­board boxes to raise money for the home­less char­ity.

It has raised hun­dreds of thou­sands of pounds in the past, but this year there will be changes.

Due to so­cial dis­tanc­ing mea­sures be­cause of Covid-19, the char­ity has said it will be of­fer­ing a dif­fer­ent ver­sion of the sleep­out this year and is now get­ting de­tails to­gether.

It also said the im­pact of the pan­demic on the char­ity will be felt for a long time, with the po­ten­tial loss of in­come from more than 15 events in­clud­ing the Lon­don Marathon.
