School shut after case of Covid-19 confirmed

-

A DERBYSHIRE school has closed its doors after it confirmed having one case of Covid-19 at the site.

Scott Doyle, principal of Derby Moor Academy, made the announcement on the school’s website, stating it would be closed from yesterday for the rest of the week.

Mr Doyle said the closure was a precautionary measure and he advised any parents or carers who had been in the school in the last fortnight to be vigilant about their child’s health.

A statement on the school website reads: “Dear families, Derby Moor Academy will be closed to all students from Monday, July 13 and for the rest of the week in the first instance. We are sorry for the short notice, but I am sure you will understand that this due to circumstances beyond our control.

“We have taken this decision following a confirmed single case of Covid-19 among our school community. The closure is a precautionary measure, taken to minimise risk to the rest of our students, families and staff.

“We will review this position before the end of the week and advise about the final week before the weekend, but we would ask parents and carers to consider the possibility of alternative arrangements as a cautionary step.”
